About Conference
EFMI Special Topic Conference 2018 (EFMI STC 2018) is the Conference in the heart of Zagreb, the city where professor Andrija Štampar did his big work. Prof. Andrija Štampar (1888-1958), is founder of the School of Public Health in Zagreb, he is one of the leading persons in founding the World Health Organisation (WHO) and he was chairman of the first WHO Assembly in 1948.
There is a long tradition of education on the field of public health and following the tradition of exploring the new methods, teaching of Medical Informatics (MI) for undergraduates and clinical postgraduates started still in the 1970s at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. Croatian Society for Medical Informatics (CroSMI) organizes STC 2018, on 15 and 16 October 2018, linking tradition and the latest achievements in the theory and practice of ICT without which effective health care is unfeasible. The venue of the Conference is in the heart of Zagreb, on the main square.

The European Federation for Medical Informatics Association (EFMI) is the leading organisation in medical informatics in Europe and represents 32 countries. EFMI is organised as a non-profit organisation concerned with the theory and practice of Information Science and Technology within Health and Health Science in a European context.
The objectives, when founded in 1976, were:
• To advance international co-operation and dissemination of information in medical informatics on a European basis
• To promote high standards in the application of medical informatics
• To promote research and development in medical informatics
• To encourage high standards in education in medical informatics
• To function as the autonomous European Regional Council of IMIA

About CroSMI (HDMI)
The Croatian Society for Medical Informatics, http://www.hdmi.hr, is a non-profit organization concerned with the scientific field of medical informatics, which comprises the theory and practice of information science and technology within health care and health care science. The CroSMI was established in February 1989. Since 1993 the CroSMI has organized professional and scientific meetings with international contributions. The meetings named “Medical Informatics” have been held biannually. In 2007 the CroSMI organized the EFMI STC 2007 titled “Medical Informatics in Enlarged Europe”.
